Thenkuzhal Murukku

Murukku is a savoury, crunchy Indian snack. The snack originated in the Tamil Nadu state, and its name derives from the Tamil word for "twisted".
Murukku is typically made from rice flour and urad dal flour.The dish has many variations, resulting from the types and proportions of flours used. 


Ingredients
  • Raw Rice Flour - 4 cups
  • Roasted Urad Flour - 1/2 cup
  • Sesame Seeds - 1 tbsp
  • Salt as required
  • Oil for deep frying
Method
  1. Roast Gram dal till it gets heated and aroma rises.
  2. Powder it and sift it.
  3. Mix rice flour, urad flour, salt and sesame seeds in a bowl.
  4. Pour 2 ladle of hot oil in it and mix well.
  5. Kneed to make a dough.

  6. Apply oil into the murukku maker, insert three eyed disc plate.
  7. Portion dough and insert into murukku maker, squeeze and roll to obtain murukku.
  8. Squeeze them in cloth or polythene sheets or holed ladle.
  9. Transfer into hot oil and deep fry them.
  10. Cool them and transfer to a air tight container, serve.
