Floating Island
A floating island is a dessert of French origin, consisting of meringue floating on crème anglaise. The meringues are prepared from whipped egg whites, sugar and vanilla extract then quickly poached.
Ingredients
- Egg white - 4
- powdered sugar - 1/4 cup
- Sugar - 1/4 cup
- Milk - 2 cups
- Custard powder - 2 tbsp
- Sliced almond - 1 tbsp
- In a bowl, add egg white and powdered sugar.
- Beat and blend them well without any lumps till it becomes creamy, keep them aside.
- Heat pan, boil milk in low flame.
- When it boils, make scoops out of blended creamy egg white and sugar.
- Place scoops on boiled milk (low flame).
- Pour some boiled milk on scoops as well and cook in a very low flame for 5-7 mins.
- Take scoops out of milk and keep them separately in a plate.
- Boil milk again.
- Now, add sugar to the boiled milk.
- Mix custard powder in water separately and pour it inside boiled milk.
- Mix well by switching off the flame.
- Pour the above sauce on scoops.
- Add grated almond on top of it, garnish and serve.
