Prawn Biryani

Ingredients
  • Prawn - 250 g
  • Basmati Rice - 1 1/2 cups
  • Diluted Coconut Milk - 2 cups
  • Ghee - 2 tbsp
  • Oil - 1 tbsp
  • Whole spices(cinnamon,cardamom,star anise,cloves,mace,bay leaf ) - 1
  • Onions - 2
  • Tomatoes - 2
  • Turmeric - 1/4 tsp
  • Chilli powder - 2 tsp
  • Coriander powder - 2 tsp
  • Salt as needed
  • Mint and coriander leaves - 1 cup
Masala paste:
  • Red chillies - 2
  • Green chillies - 2
  • Ginger - 1 inch
  • Garlic - 5 fat cloves
  • Water as needed
Method
  1. Soak basmati rice for 1/2 an hour.
  2. Grind ingredients under masala paste, make a paste and keep aside.
  3. Heat 2 tbsp of ghee and 1 tbsp of oil in a cooker.
  4. Add spices, add sliced onions and saute.
  5. Now, add masala paste.
  6. Add tomatoes, chilli powder, coriander powder, salt and turmeric, cook.
  7. Add frozen/fresh prawns and mix well, till it blends with masala.

  8. Add coriander and mint leaves.
  9. Add diluted coconut milk.
  10. Add soaked basmati rice.
  11. Cover lid and pressure cook in medium low flame.
  12. When steam comes place weighter and cook in low flame for 15 mins.
  13. Serve with raita or gravy.
Variations:
  • Prawn can be replaced with shrimp.
