Prawn Biryani
Ingredients
- Prawn - 250 g
- Basmati Rice - 1 1/2 cups
- Diluted Coconut Milk - 2 cups
- Ghee - 2 tbsp
- Oil - 1 tbsp
- Whole spices(cinnamon,cardamom,star anise,cloves,mace,bay leaf ) - 1
- Onions - 2
- Tomatoes - 2
- Turmeric - 1/4 tsp
- Chilli powder - 2 tsp
- Coriander powder - 2 tsp
- Salt as needed
- Mint and coriander leaves - 1 cup
- Red chillies - 2
- Green chillies - 2
- Ginger - 1 inch
- Garlic - 5 fat cloves
- Water as needed
- Soak basmati rice for 1/2 an hour.
- Grind ingredients under masala paste, make a paste and keep aside.
- Heat 2 tbsp of ghee and 1 tbsp of oil in a cooker.
- Add spices, add sliced onions and saute.
- Now, add masala paste.
- Add tomatoes, chilli powder, coriander powder, salt and turmeric, cook.
- Add frozen/fresh prawns and mix well, till it blends with masala.
- Add coriander and mint leaves.
- Add diluted coconut milk.
- Add soaked basmati rice.
- Cover lid and pressure cook in medium low flame.
- When steam comes place weighter and cook in low flame for 15 mins.
- Serve with raita or gravy.
- Prawn can be replaced with shrimp.
