Potato Channa Dal Masala
Health Benefits of Channa Dal
Chana dal is high in fiber and help to lower cholesterol.
Apart from having a great taste, it also has a very low glycemic index, which is important for those with diabetes.
Ingredients- Oil - 1tbs
- Cumin - 1 tsp
- Curry leaves - few
- Garlic & Ginger - 1 tsp ( minced )
- Onion - 1
- Tomatoes - 2
- Turmeric - 1/4 tsp
- Chilly powder - 1 tsp
- Channa dal - 1/4 cup
- Potatoes - 4 medium
- Coriander leaves - few
- Salt - as required
- Sugar - a pinch
- Pressure cook potatoes adding salt for 1 whistle and simmer for 10 minutes, strain it and keep aside.
- Heat oil in a pan, crackle cumin, add curry leaves.
- Add minced garlic and ginger.
- Saute chopped onions and tomatoes.
- Add salt, turmeric and chilli powder.
- Add little water.
- Add channa dal.
- Add cooked and cubed potatoes, mix.
- Mash 2 -3 pieces of potatoes and mix well together.
- Keep in sim and cook for 2-3 minutes.
- Add sugar, mix well.
- Garnish with coriander leaves and serve.
- Goes well with sambar rice, curd rice and chapatti roll.
