Karaikudi Style Tomato Chutney

Ingredients

  • Vengaya Vadagam - 1 tsp (Dried onions -[ready to use blend] of spices)
  • Tomatoes - 4-5 
  • Dry red chillies - 3
  • Salt as needed
  • Gingelly oil - 2 tsp

Method

  1. Chop tomatoes, grind them adding salt and red chillies, keep aside.
  2. Heat oil in a pan.
  3. Add vengaya vadagam and saute till the spices in it pops.
  4. Then, add grounded tomato paste.
  5. Simmer for 15-20 mins without adding water.
  6. Add extra oil if needed.
  7. Serve with idly or dosa.
