Pepper Mutton Curry
Ingredients
- Oil - 2 tbsp
- Cloves, cinnamon, cardamom, black stone flower - 2
- Dry red chillies - 1
- Ginger and garlic paste - 1tbsp
- Onion - 2
- Pepper powder - 1/2 tbsp ( freshly grounded coarse powder )
- Chilli powder - 2 tsp
- Coriander powder - 1/2 tbsp
- Garam masala powder - 1/2 tsp
- Salt - as required
- Mutton / lamb - 300 gms
- Curry leaves and coriander leaves - few
- Tomato - 3
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
- Fennel seed - 1/2 tsp
- Clean and wash the mutton and keep it aside.
- Heat oil in a pressure cooker add fennel seeds after it sputters.
- Add onions sauté well til it becomes translucent.
- Now add ginger and garlic paste sauté well till the raw smell goes off.
- After that add tomatoes, salt, red chili powder and coriander powder.
- Now add the washed mutton, turmeric powder mixt it all together.
- Mix it all together and add 2 cups of water. Pressure cook the mutton for 3-4 whistle.
- Once the mutton gets fully cooked. Remove it from heat and keep it aside.
- Now heat oil in a pan add cloves, cinnamon stick, dry red chillies and bay leaves.
- After that add the pressure cooked gravy in to it, bring it to boil.
- Add the ground pepper powder. Boil it for 2 minutes.
- Remove from heat, garnish it with coriander leaves and serve hot.
If the gravy is little watery leave it in a medium heat until it becomes bit thick.
