White Rava Upma(semolina upma)
Upma or Uppuma or Uppittu is a common South Indian and Sri Lankan Tamil breakfast dish, cooked as a thick porridge from dry roasted semolina or coarse rice flour.

Ingredients
  • Oil - 2 tsp
  • Mustard - 1 tsp
  • Urad dal - 1/2 tsp
  • Channa dal - 1 tsp
  • Cashew - 1 tsp (optional )
  • Curry leaves - few 
  • Cumin - 1/2 tsp 
  • Onion - 1
  • Green chillies - 2 
  • Rava/ semolina - 1 cup 
  • Water - 2 1/2 cups
  • Ghee - 1/2 tsp ( optional )
  • Coriander leaves - few 
  • Salt  as required 
Method
  1. Heat oil in a pan, roast semolina or rava, keep aside.
  2. Heat oil in a pan, crackle mustard, cumin.
  3. Add urad dal, channa dal, cashews, curry leaves.
  4. Add sliced onions and green chillies, saute.
  5. Add Water, when it boiled add roasted semolina or rava.
  6. Keep stirring in low flame till water drains off (2-3 mins).

  7. Add ghee.
  8. Garnish and serve with coconut chutney.
