Moong Dal Sambhar
- Mung beans are a high source of nutrients including: manganese, potassium, magnesium, folate, copper, zinc and various B vitamins.
- They are also a very filling food, high in protein, resistant starch and dietary fiber.
Ingredients
- Moong dal - 1/4 cup
- Oil - 1 tbsp
- Mustard - 1 tsp
- Cumin - 1 tsp
- Asafoetida a pinch
- Green chillies - 3
- Onion - 1 (large)
- Tomato - 2 (medium)
- Turmeric - 1/4 tsp
- Salt as needed
- Water as needed
Method
- Pressure cook moong dal with 3/4 cup of water, keep aside.
- Heat oil in a pan, splutter mustard and cumin seeds.
- Add asafoetida, sliced onions and green chillies.
- Saute well till onion turns transparent.
- Add chopped tomatoes, salt and turmeric.
- Cook till tomatoes becomes mushy.
- Now, add cooked dal, mix well.
- Add a cup of water and boil in medium flame for 10 minutes.
- Garnish with coriander leaves and serve with dosa or idly.
