Red Lentil Chicken

HEALTH BENEFITS OF RED LENTILS
 Lower Cholesterol, Heart Health, Digestive Health, Stabilized Blood Sugar, Good Protein, Increases Energy, Weight Loss

Ingredients
  • Red lentils/Masoor dal  - 1 1/2 cup
  • Chicken - 500 g
  • Onion - 1 (large)
  • Tomatoes - 1
  • Ginger - 1 inch
  • Chilli powder - 2 tsp
  • Coriander powder - 2 tsp
  • Turmeric - 1/4 tsp
  • Water - 1 cup
  • Salt as needed
Grind:
  • Coconut oil - 1 tsp
  • Cinnamon - 1
  • Cloves - 4
  • Cardamom - 2
  • Pepper corns - 1/2 tsp
  • Garlic - 4 fat cloves
  • Onion - 1/2 
  • Coconut - 1 tbsp
Temper:
  • Coconut oil - 2 tsp
  • Mustard - 1 tsp
  • Green chillies - 2
Method
  1. Wash chicken and red lentils, half cook in a pressure cooker by adding chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric, water for one whistle.


  2. Meanwhile, heat oil in a pan, saute ingredients under grind one by one, cool and grind adding little amount of water.


  3. Once lentils and chicken is half cooked, add grounded masala paste on it along with some chopped onions, chopped ginger, chopped tomatoes, water and salt.



  4. Pressure cook for 5 minutes.
  5. Heat oil in a separate pan, crackle mustard, saute green chillies.
  6. Add cooked chicken and lentils over it and cook again for 5 minutes in pan.
  7. Garnish and serve with roti or rice.
