BITTER GOURD FRY

INGREDIENTS
  • Bitter Gourd - 1 (large) 
  • Onion - 1 (medium)
  • Oil - 2 tbsp
  • Mustard - 1 tsp
  • Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
  • Sambhar Powder - 2 tsp
  • Turmeric - a pinch
  • Salt as needed

METHOD
  1. Soak bitter gourd in water adding salt and lemon juice, leave for 20 mins to reduce the amount of bitterness.(lemon can be replaced with curd or tamarind water).
  2. Heat oil in a pan, crackle mustard and cumin seeds.
  3. Now, add thinly sliced onions and saute`.
  4. Once it turns golden brown add sliced bitter gourd.(Don't burn the onions).
  5. Add turmeric and sambhar powder.

  6. Stir fry for 7-10 minutes till bitter gourd gets cooked.
