BITTER GOURD FRY
INGREDIENTS
- Bitter Gourd - 1 (large)
- Onion - 1 (medium)
- Oil - 2 tbsp
- Mustard - 1 tsp
- Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
- Sambhar Powder - 2 tsp
- Turmeric - a pinch
- Salt as needed
METHOD
- Soak bitter gourd in water adding salt and lemon juice, leave for 20 mins to reduce the amount of bitterness.(lemon can be replaced with curd or tamarind water).
- Heat oil in a pan, crackle mustard and cumin seeds.
- Now, add thinly sliced onions and saute`.
- Once it turns golden brown add sliced bitter gourd.(Don't burn the onions).
- Add turmeric and sambhar powder.
- Stir fry for 7-10 minutes till bitter gourd gets cooked.
