GREEN PEAS PULAO
INGREDIENTS
- Basmati rice - 1 cup
- Green peas(fresh/frozen) - 3/4 cup
- Cinnamon - 1 inch
- Cardamom - 1 or 2
- Cloves - 2 or 3
- Mace - 1 or 2
- Bay leaf - 1
- Star Anise - 2
- Sliced onion - 1/2 cup
- Oil or Ghee - 2 tbsp
- Water - 1.75 cup
- salt as required
- Coriander and mint leaves - few (optional)
- Wash the basmati rice, soak the rice for 30 minutes.
- Heat oil or ghee in a pressure cooker, add the whole spices.
- Saute till the spices release their aroma.
- Then add the sliced onions. stir and saute.
- Add the peas and saute for a minute.
- Add some chopped coriander and mint leaves (optional).
- Now add the drained rice and stir gently.
- Saute for a minute. add water and salt. stir.
- Cover and pressure cook for 2 whistles on a high flame.
- Serve pulao hot with onion-tomato raita.
