GREEN PEAS PULAO


INGREDIENTS
  • Basmati rice - 1 cup
  • Green peas(fresh/frozen) - 3/4 cup
  • Cinnamon - 1 inch
  • Cardamom - 1 or 2
  • Cloves - 2 or 3
  • Mace - 1 or 2
  • Bay leaf - 1
  • Star Anise - 2
  • Sliced onion - 1/2 cup
  • Oil or Ghee - 2 tbsp
  • Water - 1.75 cup
  • salt as required
  • Coriander and mint leaves - few (optional)
METHOD
  1. Wash the basmati rice, soak the rice for 30 minutes.
  2. Heat oil or ghee in a pressure cooker, add the whole spices.
  3. Saute till the spices release their aroma.
  4. Then add the sliced onions. stir and saute.
  5. Add the peas and saute for a minute.
  6. Add some chopped coriander and mint leaves (optional).
  7. Now add the drained rice and stir gently.
  8. Saute for a minute. add water and salt. stir.
  9. Cover and pressure cook for 2 whistles on a high flame.
  10. Serve pulao hot with onion-tomato raita.
