MASHED HORSE GRAM/KOLLU KADAYAL 

INGREDIENTS
  • Horsegram/kollu - 1/3 cup
  • Small onions - 10
  • Tomato - 1
  • Water - 1 1/2 cup
  • Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
  • Pepper - 1 tsp
  • Green chillies - 1
For Tempering:
  • Oil - 1 tbsp
  • Mustard - 1 tsp
  • Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
  • Dry red chillies - 2 
  • Asafoetida - a pinch

METHOD
  1. Soak horse gram overnight.
  2. Pressure cook horse gram, tomato for 1 whistle and keep in low flame for 10 minutes.
  3. Cool them; grind by adding small onions, cumin, pepper and green chillies along (grind along with water/ drain water).
  4. Heat oil in a pan crackle mustard, add cumin seeds, dry red chillies, asafoetida and temper on grounded masala.
