Onion Pakkoda Kuzhambu

Ingredients
For Making Pakkoda:
  • Besan / Gram Flour - 6 tsp
  • Rice Flour - 2 tsp
  • Big Onion - 2
  • Red Chilli Powder - 1 tsp
  • Fennel seeds - 1/4 tsp
  • Cooking soda - a pinch (optional)
  • Salt and water as needed
  • Oil for deep frying
For Making Curry:
  • Oil - 2 tbsp
  • Mustrad - 1/2 tsp
  • Urad dal - 1 tsp
  • Cinnamon - 1
  • Cloves - 2
  • Fennel seeds - 1/2 tsp
  • Onion - 1 
  • Garlic - 4 cloves
  • Red chilli - 1
  • Tamarind - 1 goose berry size
  • Sambar Powder - 2 tsp
  • Jaggery a pinch
  • Coconut - 1/4 cup
  • Salt and water as needed
  • Curry leaves - 1 pinnate
  • Coriander leaves for garnishing
Method
  1. Put tamarind in hot water and extract juice, keep aside.
  2. Mix all ingredients for making pakkoda, make paste and deep fry them.



  3. Heat oil, add mustard, cinnamon, cloves, red chillies, urad dal and fennel seeds..
  4. Add chopped garlic, onions and curry leaves.
  5. Add tamarind extract , sambar powder, jaggery, salt and water.
  6. Boil them for 5 mins. 


  7. Grind coconut by adding water and make paste, add paste into tamarind water. 
  8. Add water, boil for 5 mins till gravy thickens, then finally add fried pakkodas, garnish.


  9. Serve with hot rice.
