Mixed Lentil Curry
Ingredients
  • Dal - 3/4 cup (Toor dal - 2 tbsp, Moong dal - 2 tbsp, Urad dal - 1 tbsp, Red lentils - 1 tbsp, Green moong - 1 tbsp)
  • Ghee - 2 tbsp
  • Oil - 1 tbsp
  • Cumin seeds - 1/4 tsp
  • Asafoetida - a pinch
  • Bay leaf - 1
  • Dry red chillies - 3
  • Onion (large) - 1
  • Tomato (medium) - 1
  • Green chillies - 1
  • Garlic - 4 fat cloves
  • Ginger - 1 inch
  • Turmeric - 1/4 tsp
  • Red chilli powder - 1 tsp
  • Jeera powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Coriander powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Garam masala - 1/2 tsp
  • Dried Fenugreek leaves - few
  • Salt as needed
  • Coriander leaves - few
Method
  1. Wash dal, add turmeric and soak for 5 minutes.
  2. Pressure cook dal for 4 -5 whistles and mash them.
  3. Grind green chillies, ginger and garlic.
  4. Heat oil and ghee in a pan.
  5. Add cumin, when it splutters add asafoetida, grounded paste, bay leaf, dry red chillies and chopped onions.



  6. Saute till transparent and then add tomato puree.
  7. Add salt, chilli powder, coriander powder, jeera powder, garam masala, dried fenugreek leaves.
  8. Now, add cooked dal and a cup of water, cook them in low flame for 15-20 mins.
  9. Garnish and serve.
