Thanjavur Thavala Adai
Ingredients
- Ponni Rice (boiled) - 1 cup
- Channa dal - 1/2 cup
- Coconut (grated) - 1/4 cup
- Mustard - 1 tbsp
- Urad dal - 3 tsp
- Dry red chillies - 4
- Asafoetida - a pinch
- Salt as needed
Method
- Soak rice and channa dal in water together for 2 hours.
- Grind them adding coconut, little water and keep aside (consistency should be like idly batter).
- Now, heat oil in a pan, crackle mustard.
- Add urad dal and dry red chillies (broken).
- Add asafoetida powder.
- Pour them above rice mixture.
- Add salt, mix along.
- Heat 1 tbsp of oil in tawa.
- Pour mixture ,spread, cook flipping both sides.
- Serve with coconut chutney.
