Thanjavur Thavala Adai

Ingredients
  • Ponni Rice (boiled) - 1 cup
  • Channa dal - 1/2 cup
  • Coconut (grated) - 1/4 cup
  • Mustard - 1 tbsp
  • Urad dal - 3 tsp
  • Dry red chillies - 4
  • Asafoetida - a pinch
  • Salt as needed

Method
  1. Soak rice and channa dal in water together for 2 hours.
  2. Grind them adding coconut, little water and keep aside (consistency should be like idly batter).
  3. Now, heat oil in a pan, crackle mustard.
  4. Add urad dal and dry red chillies (broken).
  5. Add asafoetida powder.
  6. Pour them above rice mixture.

  7. Add salt, mix along.
  8. Heat 1 tbsp of oil in tawa.
  9. Pour mixture ,spread, cook flipping both sides.
  10. Serve with coconut chutney.
