Village Style Chicken Kuzhambu
Ingredients
For Masala Paste:
  • Oil - 1 tsp
  • Cloves - 3
  • Cinnamon - 1
  • Maze - 1
  • Star Anise - 1 
  • Dry Red Chillies - 4
  • Coriander Seeds - 2 tsp
  • Peppercorns  - 1 tsp
  • Cumin Seeds - 1/2 tsp
  • Fennel Seeds - 1 tsp
  • Coconut - 1 tbsp
For Gravy:
  • Onion -  1 (large)
  • Tomato - 2 (medium)
  • Ginger Garlic Paste - 1 tbsp
  • Turmeric - 1/4 tsp
  • Red Chilli powder - 2 tsp
  • Chicken - 250 g
  • Oil - 2 tsp
  • Salt as needed
Directions
  1. Grind roughly chopped onions and tomatoes raw using blender adding little water, keep aside.
  2. Heat oil in a pan, add ingredients mentioned under 'masala paste' one by one and saute them
  3. Cool the above mixture and grind them adding 2 tbsp of water, make a smooth paste.
  4. Now, heat oil in a separate pan, add ginger garlic paste.
  5. Cool till raw smell goes.
  6. Then, add grounded onion tomato paste.
  7. Simmer for 5 mins.
  8. Add turmeric, chilli powder and salt.
  9. Simmer for 10 mins.
  10. Add chicken.

  11. Add water, add grounded masala paste and simmer again for 15-20 mins till chicken gets cooked.
