Mutton Sukka

Ingredients
  • Mutton - 1/2 kg
  • Onion - 2 (medium)
  • Tomato - 2 (medium)
  • Green chillies - 2 
  • Ginger garlic paste - 2 tsp
  • Coriander leaves - few
  • Salt as needed
  • Oil - 1 tbsp
For Masala
  • Red chillies - 5
  • Pepper corns - 1 1/2 tsp
  • Fennel seeds - 1 tsp
  • Cardamom - 2
  • Cinnamon stick - 1 inch
  • Cloves - 2
  • Coriander seeds - 2 tsp
  • Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
For Marination
  • Turmeric - 1/4 tsp
  • Chilli powder - 1 tsp
  • Salt as needed
  • Lemon juice - 2 tbsp
Method
  1. Marinate mutton for 30 mins with all the above ingredients under 'For Marination'.
  2. Pressure cook mutton for 2-3 whistles adding little amount of water.
  3. Meanwhile, dry roast ingredients mentioned under 'For Masala' and make a fine powder.
  4. Heat oil in a separate pan add chopped onions and green chilles, saute.
  5. Add ginger garlic paste and saute again till the raw smell goes.
  6. Add grounded masala.
  7. Add tomatoes and salt.
  8. Add cooked mutton pieces along with mutton stock (water left in pressure cooker).
  9. Cook for 10 minutes, till masala gets coated well with mutton pieces.
  10. Add 1/2 cup of water and simmer for 10-15 minutes in a very low flame.
  11. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve.
